CMS FirstSpirit accesses Sharepoint and Alfresco through CMIS

ARITHNEA just released a new module for the High-End Content Management System FirstSpirit ™ called DMS connect.
DMS connect uses CMIS to connect to different Document Management Systems. The module successfully works with Sharepoint 2010 and Alfresco 3.2. Not all CMIS features have been implemented yet. Within the next weeks it will also be tested against the Nuxeo repository that already offers CMIS. The module is meant to work with all CMIS compliant DMS. This will be tested as soon those repositories are available.

It is possible to connect to more than one repository with this module. The editors can choose which repository they want to access (red section). This can be easily switched through a drop-down list.
With this module the online editors have direct access to the DMS. They can directly choose the files they want to publish to the website. There is no need anymore to copy documents to the internal media store. This way the document management process stays within the DMS and the editorial process stays in the CMS. Integration between ez Publish and Nuxeo via CMIS
The ez Publish partner NXC published an interesting video. This video shows the integration of the Web Content Management System ez Publish 4.2 and the Document Management System Nuxeo via CMIS.
NXC is the main contributor to eZ Publish CMIS. The documents are only stored in Nuxeo, but fetched and used in eZ Publish. eZ Publish now supports CMIS version 1.0 that is still in revision.

eZ Publish will support CMIS in release 4.2
The Open Source Web Content Management System eZ Publish will support the CMIS standard in the next release.
The release for 4.2 is planned to be available on September 29th, 2009.
